I love to build up form in clay. I then fire the dried work and finish the piece with paint. Since I am coming from years of working with acrylics, I feel I have more control over the results with paint, rather than using glazes.
There is a famous fresco painting that is central to the Palazzo Vecchio in Siena, Italy. The central equestrian figure is named Guido da Foligno and I wanted to take him out of the painting and invite him into the sculptural world.
